Born in Georgia at the turn of the 20th century, Ralph Murphy was raised on Southern Cooking the likes of Collard Greens, Black Eyed Peas, Hogs Jowl, Pot "Likker" and Corn Pone.
In the heydays of the 1930's Ralph worked aboard the luxury liners of the day under Master Chefs, where he learned the "French Way with Food."
In 1976, Ralph Murphy introduced his unique method of preparing pan-fried chicken by combining the best of Southern Cooking and of French food preparation methods.Since that time, Murph's Gaslight has become "Home of the Original Pan Fried Chicken" and remains one of the most popular destinations in the Coachella Valley.
Since the mid-1980's, John Skoby, Chef Martín Vega and Manager Yolanda Wright continued to operate Murph's Gaslight in Ralph Murphy's family style tradition.
As Murph's begins its 40th year of operation, successful restaurateur, Joshua Rushlow and his experienced management team subscribe to the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Murph's remains committed to keeping your dining experience as pleasurable and satisfying as ever.
